For over 30 years the SI Bend women’s service club has awarded $65,000+ in educational assistance to local women. The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award (LYDA) assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families while pursuing their higher education goals. The annual SI Bend Holiday Evergreen Fundraising Sale supports these awards.
Applications for the Live Your Dream Awards will be taken from October 1 until November 15. A minimum of (2) $2000 educational awards will be given.
One of the scholarships is specifically set aside for a Central Electric Cooperative (CEC) member in 'good standing' who meets the award criteria. CEC members who haven't been able to stay current on CEC billing, may contact Neighbor Impact to request financial assistance. By paying outstanding CEC charges, eligibility for either award is increased.
To qualify, an applicant must be a financially needy, head-of-household woman who is
pursuing higher education. LYDA applicants must be entering into, or enrolled in, a college
certificate/degree program. Awardees may use the money for any educational expense including
tuition, childcare, and/or transportation.
